Dr. Wearn to Give Lecture on Antebellum Motherhood

On Tuesday, November 27th at 12:30 pm Dr. Mary Wearn will present “The Culture of Motherhood in Antebellum America.” The lecture will be held in the Arts Complex Theatre.

The antebellum period was a foundational moment in the history of the Antebellum Family. Come learn about the social rise of the “Republican Mother” and how the nineteenth century’s new idealization of motherhood changed women’s roles in America forever.

Mary Wearn is Assistant Professor of English and author of Negotiating Motherhood in Nineteenth-Century American Literature.
