English Studies Organization (ESO)
The ESO is a vibrant and active student organization dedicated to supporting members’ appreciation of literature in an engaging, social environment. Open to all MSC students, this group hosts a range of events, including lectures, poetry readings, book discussions, and film screenings. In spring of 2009, the ESO hosted “The Culture of Conflict,” an undergraduate conference open to all University System of Georgia, Mercer, and Wesleyan students. Past ESO activities include fieldtrips to see the play Chicago at the Macon Grand Opera House and a production of Spamalot at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. ESO members are also very service oriented, and have worked at the annual Friends of theMacon- Bibb County Library booksale and served as volunteers at the annual High School Academic Bowl.
